Nora Jean Eichenlaub (née Harrell), born July 28, 1949, died April 18, 2025.

Jean passed away from a long-suffering bout with Cancer. Beloved wife of Charles, loving Mother of Barbara Saunders (Chris), and the late Gary Cooper (Leigh).

Dutiful Sister of the late James Harrell, half-sister to a number of siblings, and caring sister-in-law of Chrissie Earley (Gerry, Sr.) and John Eichenlaub (Julie).

Proud Grandmother of three Grandchildren, Carley Cooper, Emma Saunders and McKenzie Cooper.

Loving relative to many cousins, and Aunt to numerous nieces, and nephews covering several generations.

Jean truly enjoyed living at the Charlestown Retirement Community the past ten and a half years, volunteering for many tasks. She served on the Resident Council for 7 years, and as Chair of the Benevolent Care Committee for six years, as well as being a member of that Committee for all of her time at Charlestown. Jean loved being a Charlestown Cheerleader until she no longer could participate due to the illness. She was known for her daily sleeveless walks around Charlestown, and came to be affectionately known as "Trouble" to fellow residents and staff she encountered and befriended.

Jean cherished many friendships outside of Charlestown, going back to her College days (friend Vivian), living in Elkridge and Hanover, MD, and enjoying the National Fitness Club's Women's Water Aerobics' group and their notorious lunches at the Stainglass Pub. She was the Accounting Manager for BFI Waste Management Company for many years until retirement, and enjoyed the bonds of friendship with many co-workers for years later. After retirement, Jean brought together the wives from her and Charlie’s social circle to form a dinner group, affectionately nicknamed Ladies of the Night (LOTN). Over time, the group evolved into The Ladies Who Lunch (no hats allowed)—a playful nod to her admiration for Stephen Sondheim and his music, which she deeply revered.

Jean will forever be in our hearts and never forgotten. A Celebration of Life to commemorate Jean will take place on Sunday, July 20, from 1 pm to 3:30 pm at FOP Lodge #5, 11630 Carolina Rd, Phila., Pa. 19154: LODGE 5 – FOP LODGE 5. Instead of flowers, etc., please send donations to the Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund to Philanthropy Office, 719 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228.
