Norah Catherine Oehmke, aged 59, of Woodbury, MN passed away on November 13, 2024. Norah was born November 8, 1965, the daughter of Richard and Norah Denise (Linehan) Oehmke.
Norah graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, Wisconsin, and the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN with a double bachelor's degree in business and German. Her collegiate studies included a semester each at the University of Salzburg in Austria and Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen in Germany.
She started her career in retail in the Twin Cities and Atlanta, before working for a German bathroom appliance company. From there she moved to Germany and spent several years working for a manufacturing firm. Her love of Europe influenced two of her brothers to join her in working in Europe. Norah subsequently worked in accounting for several other companies to include Medtronic.
Norah was very dedicated to her family and found great joy in spending time with them. She was "like a clock" in keeping up with birthdays, anniversaries, and many other details in each person's life. She also spent several years with her parents as their caretaker and enabling them to stay in their home. Over the years, one of her favorite pastimes was travelling to Europe or cruising in Caribbean, often to visit family or friends or simply to explore all that world has to offer.
Norah leaned on her very strong faith during her many health struggles. Following a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, she was fighting through subsequent complications, when overnight she went from death's door to a clear path to recovery. She firmly believed this was miracle resulting from family prayers to Father Solanus Casey.
Norah is survived by her siblings Daniel (Sandy) of Welch, MN, Robert of Hudson, WI, John of Sacramento, CA, Michael of Magnolia, DE and James (Nicola) of Düsseldorf, Germany; She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Norah D. Oehmke.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4-6pm on Tuesday, November 19, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, with a prayer service at 5:30 pm. Funeral service will be the next morning, Wednesday, November 20, 11am, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson. The family invites you to stay for a luncheon to celebrate Norah's life.
