Norbert Andrzejewski

Norbert Anthony Andrzejewski, age 90 of Sioux Falls, went to his heavenly reward on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Avantara Norton Nursing Home in Sioux Falls. Arrangements have entrusted to Johnson-Henry Funeral Home of Arlington, Lake Preston and Oldham.
Norbert was born on May 25, 1933 in Dubley, MN. He was the first of six children born to Max J. and Helen M. (Wojton) Andrzejewski. He moved with his family to Carthage, SD and eventually in 1940, to Arlington, SD.
Norbert was a special needs child, before the educational system recognized a need to address their needs. "Norbie", as he was widely known by everyone in Arlington, mowed lawns and shoveled sidewalks throughout the community. If someone said "Norbie", everyone knew who you were talking about. After Mother's passing in 1977, he moved to an adjustment training center home in Brookings, SD where he worked for both Larson Manufacturing and Daktronics.
Norbie also became involved in the Special Olympics Program. He won Gold Medals in the softball throw and 440 yard dash. In 2003 he moved back to Arlington where he was a resident of the nursing facility until it closed in 2023-upon the closing of the Arlington facility, he moved to Avantara Norton in Sioux Falls, SD where he resided until his passing.
He will be forever remembered by his family, as the best and most reliable babysitter in the care of all of the grandchildren, as they came to visit Mom and Dad's home in Arlington
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Bernadette (Tom) Holland, Virginia (Gene) Pentz and Catherine Madson.
He is survived by his two brothers, Dennis (Marty) of Mitchell, SD, and Rich (Mary) of Aurora, CO, several nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD IN THE JULY OF 2024.
