Norbert A. Kendall, age 78, passed away on Thursday, January 8th, 2026. He was born on October 24th, 1947 in Covington, KY to the late Dorothy and Jerome Kendall. Norbert was self-employed for many years delivering papers for Cincinnati Enquirer. Many young family members and friends still share laughs from their stint as proud Big Norb paperboy school graduates. “GET UP, PAPERS!, Haunting words to many of them. Norbert also kept hundreds of the local lawnmowers running out of his home small engine repair shop. He later retired as a mechanic for Comair and Delta Airlines. In retirement Norb enjoyed chatting with his coworkers & customers along his driving route for KOI KY Motors. He was also an Air Force veteran and served in the Vietnam war. Norbert is survived by his children Mark Kendall (Melissa), Ryan Kendall (Stephanie) and J. Cris Kendall; and his grandchildren Hayden, Addison, Leo, Hugo, Margo and Gribben. He is also survived by his siblings Jan Farrell, Shirley Kendall, Jerry Kendall and Vicki Coombs. Norbert was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Susan Kendall (nee Gribben) and his siblings Kay Combs and Jean Gantzer. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 14th from 10am-12pm at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, KY 41017. The funeral service will start at 12pm. After service and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery friends and family are invited to share stories and celebrate Norb at Dickman’s Sports Barn, 479 Orphanage Rd Fort Wright, KY 41017.
Memorial donations are suggested by the family to be sent to Newport Central Catholic High School, 13 Carothers Rd, Newport, KY 41071 and/or Covington Catholic High School, 1600 Dixie Hwy, Park Hills, KY 41011.
