Norbert was born July 18, 1939, in Quincy, IL to Meredith Witt and Edith Gieker Witt. He married Carolyn "Carrie" Sturhan Witt, on December 26, 1967, in Quincy, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Meredith Witt of Palmyra, MO, Carolyn (Chuck) Avis of Clarksburg, MO, Marilyn (Mike) Lewis of Salem, IL, Warren (Joni) Witt of Tebbetts, MO, Myron (Anita) Witt of Quincy, IL, sister, Jadeen Hall of Camp Point, IL, grandchildren, Cheyenne and Chealsea Calvert, Renee (Wes) Gozia, Alex (Kyle) Jones, Andrea (J.C.) Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jonathan Witt and daughter-in-law, Marcia Witt.

Norbert lived a life built on hard work and good humor. He was a graduate of Bailey Tech in St. Louis with a degree in Auto Mechanics, Norbert could repair anything-and did so faithfully throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworking and antique furniture, spent many years serving on the Camp Point Central School Board.

A devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, and basketball, Norbert especially loved watching his children play sports, cheering them on with pride. He was known for cooking the best fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and he cherished time spent riding horses, taking his Harley out, and working on his antique tractor. His passion for machinery extended further-rebuilding stationary engines and being an active member of the North River Old Iron Club.

Norbert enjoyed collecting guns and coins, coon hunting, and boating on both the Lake of the Ozarks and the Mississippi River. He liked bowling, listening to Dolly Parton and Reba, and sharing coffee, jokes, and camaraderie with the Hardee's Coffee Club. He had an appreciation for old-time westerns like Gunsmoke and Lawman. Above all, Norbert will be remembered for his generous spirit, steady hands, and the joyful personality that made him a friend to many and a constant source of love to his family.

Pallbearers will be Josh Richmiller, Tanner Genenbacher, Wes Gozia, Kyle Jones, Todd Witt and J.C. Sellers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North River Old Iron Club.
