Send FlowersBOWLING GREEN -- Norine Sue Genson, 90, departed gracefully for heaven on November 21, 2025, following a brief but serious illness. She was born October 30, 1935, to Clarence "Shorty" and Bertha (Wittenmyer) Fouts in Rudolph, Ohio and spent her formative years in rural southeast Michigan, where her father worked in the oil fields. She happily attended a one-room country school from first through sixth grades, making friends she cherished throughout her life. In 1953 she graduated from Petersburg-Summerfield High School, and in 2023 she enjoyed attending her 70th class reunion with some of those very same friends.
Norine married Edward June in 1957. They moved to Weston, OH and had two sons but later divorced. Norine worked for Jack Armstrong in the office of the Cla-Zel Theater, a job she enjoyed and spoke of fondly. Later she accepted an office position at Johns-Manville, where she eventually met Samuel Genson. They were wed on November 14, 1969, and spent 43 adventurous years together before Sam passed in 2013.
Norine was a deeply religious woman, finding a church home in every community in which she lived. In Weston it was the Weston Assembly of God, in Denver, CO it was The Happy Church, in Perrysburg it was Bethel Assembly of God, and in Bowling Green it was Word of Truth Christian Church. In addition, upon Sam's retirement, she volunteered with him for the Assembly of God's Mission America Placement Service, living full time in their Fifth Wheel camper for more than ten years and traveling around the country helping dozens of congregation's repair, renovate, and build churches, and making many friends along the way. She and Sam also found time to attend a good many auto races in various states, with the World of Outlaws dirt-track races always their favorites.
Norine is survived by her sons Jeffrey June of Evergreen, CO, Thomas (Amy) June of Parker, CO, Christopher Genson of Bowling Green, and her stepchildren Tamara (Ron) Sharp and Kyle (Tiffany) Genson of Bowling Green, Corbin (Beth) Genson of Portage, and Garth (Kim) Genson of Anna, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tasha McDivitt, Kendra June, Kirstie June, Amanda Sharp, Emily (Nate) Alt, Carmin (Jason) Hickman, Cory (Kate) Genson, Kyle F. Genson, Jennifer (Ryan) Zam, Andrew Genson, Gage Genson, Lauren (CJ) Williams, Jeremy Doyle, Michaela (Taylor) McConkey, and Camille Isaacs (Adam DeLong), as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving Norine are her beloved sister Annie D'Haene and six nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Shorty and Bertha Fouts, husband Sam Genson, brother Bill Fouts, nephew Eddie Fouts, granddaughter Heather Genson, and former husband Ed June.
Norine will be remembered for her outgoing friendliness, her ability to chat with anyone and everyone, her cheerful and warm disposition, her devotion to God, and her delicious homemade Christmas cookies. She will be genuinely mourned and deeply missed.
Visitation for Norine will be held Wednesday, December 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green. Norine was my best friend as I moved to Bowling Green and met her at church. We shared many stories and I already miss her. I am thankful for her friendship and knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
