Mrs. Norma V. Abrenica

Mrs. Norma V. Abrenica, age 86 of New Castle, Delaware passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the home of her family in Scottsdale, Arizona, surrounded by her family.

Born in Cavite, Philippines; a daughter of Victoria de la Peña Villanueva and Mateo Medoza Vidal, she attended undergraduate college in the Philippines, and graduate school in Baltimore, where she earned a Master's Degree of Music in Piano.

She was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. She led the The Filipiniana Choir of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Bear, Delaware and was especially proud of the choir when they joyously sang "Hallelujah!" to the Lord at the Easter Sunday Masses and "Joy to the World" at Christmas Masses. Filipiniana also performed Philippine Folk Dances at various celebrations, hospitals, churches, nursing homes, and festivals throughout the years.

Norma spent decades as a music elementary education teacher at St. John the Beloved School in Wilmington, Delaware.

She enjoyed most importantly time spent praising the Lord through her music in church and playing the piano. Norma enjoyed the company of her many friends and loved to laugh and joke around, and cook, and serve others. Above all, she loved God and her faith, and being a wife, mom, and her favorite title, grandma.

In addition to her late parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Rodrigo Mendoza Abrenica who passed in October 2024; and her siblings, Marina Vidal, Hermenegildo Vidal, George Vidal Sr., Amelia Vidal Angcao, and Crisente Vidal Sr.

She is survived by her only daughter, Norlisa, son-in-law, Gordon Keffer; her three grandchildren, Mary Frances Keffer, Samuel Keffer and Alexander Keffer; her brothers Augusto Vidal and Rogelio Vidal; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and her many friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services.

Friends and neighbors are welcome to pay respects with the family on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear, DE 19701. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow and be celebrated at 12 noon. Interment will follow in procession to the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, chapel committal services, at 2:00 PM located at 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made payable check in Norma's honor to the Missionaries of Charity, 1414 S 17th Ave, Phoenix AZ 85007.
