Norma Jean (Brester) Kever-Hagenhoff, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, with her daughter by her side.
Norma was born in Westphalia, Missouri, the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Tappel) Brester. She lived a long and fulfilling life grounded in family, faith, hard work, and the simple joys she cherished.
Norma dedicated twenty-five years to St. Mary's Hospital, where she served as Head Cook. She took great pride in her work and treasured the friendships she formed with her coworkers. Outside of work, Norma loved spending time with her family, especially during the many wonderful years they enjoyed together at their Osage River cabin.
In her retirement, Norma found joy in traveling-particularly her trips to Tunica and other casinos-and in the countless hours she spent baking hundreds of cookies for her loved ones. She was an excellent cook whose generous spirit was tasted in every dish she prepared.
During her time at Villa Marie, Norma kept her mind active with crossword puzzles, attended activities (especially bingo), and enjoyed visiting with the residents and staff who became part of her extended family.
She is survived by her children: Donald Kever (Betty), Doris Adams (Wayne Kampeter), Mike Kever (Julie) and Steve Kever; stepdaughters, Vicki Phillips and Marsha VanLoo (Bo); daughter-in-law, Teresa Kever; step daughter-in-law, Sandy Hagenhoff; as well as numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Kever; her second husband, Vic Hagenhoff; her son, Gary Kever; son-in-laws, William (Gene) Bechel and Stanley Adams, and Jim Phillips; sisters, Alberta Bax and Regina Brester; step-son, Doug Hagenhoff; granddaughter, Nicole Kever-Torres; step-granddaughter, Hallie Phillips; grandson, Matt Kever; step-grandson, T.J. McDaniel; great-grandson, Elijah Torres.
The family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Taos Knights of Columbus Bereavement Fund.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Kelechi Uzuegbu. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
Norma will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, her love for family, and the many lives she touched throughout her 93 remarkable years. May she rest in peace.
