Funeral services for Norma Hostetler will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Elk City, Oklahoma with Reverend Joe Garkovich and Tim Kowalski officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Visitation with family will be held Friday, November 6, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at Martin Funeral Home. Norma Irene Whipple was born in Hillsboro, Missouri to Daniel and Etta (Keney) Whipple on March 13, 1923 and passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 86. She served in the US Air Force from 1944 to 1946, where Norma met Elden Hostetler and started the loving romance. They were married on September 6, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri. Norma and Eldon moved to Elk City in 1947, where they started their family. She was a longtime member of the Elk City First Christian Church and Tri-L Sunday school class. Norma worked as the church secretary and served as president of the CWF. Most recently, she was a volunteer at the Great Plains Regional Hospital Gift Shop. Norma moved to Canyon, Texas in July 2008, and joined the Canyon First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, her parents, three sisters, and one brother. Survivors include three children: Sharon McCalip and husband, David of Jacksonville, Florida, Carolyn Baker and her husband, James of Aurora, Colorado, and Danny Hostetler and wife, Joy of Canyon, Texas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all she touched in her life. Memorial may be made to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Elk City.
