Norma Linda Irvin

1942 - 2025

Norma Linda Irvin, 83, of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Born on April 27, 1942, in Cornelia, she was the daughter of the late Harold Lee and Norma Evelyn Locke Irvin. Linda was employed for a number of years with Habersham County Schools. She was a bird watcher and an artist, who particularly enjoyed painting. Linda especially loved her family and friends. She was a member of Central Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Schaeffer Dowis; and a grandson, Daniel Irvin LaCount.
Survivors include her companion of 13 years, Donald Wood; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer Lee LaCount, Ella Deann Ellison (Richard), and Eve Dowis Adams (Billy); 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; double first cousin, Norma Jo Irvin; several other extended relatives and friends.
Funeral services are 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and McEntire with Rev. Wayne Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
