Norma J. Kerkstra

Norma Jean Kerkstra (Meyer), age 88, of Byron Center, entered into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the hospital surrounded by her family. Norma loved spending winters in Florida. She also enjoyed flower gardening and rides in the Mustang convertible to Holland and Grand Haven for coffee and a Pronto Pup. She used to teach Sunday school at Gaines United Brethren Church. Her daughter, Sandy Cogswell; and parents, Dewey and Dorothy Meyer; brothers, Roger Meyer, Clayt Meyer; sisters-in-law, Roselyn Meyer, Ria Foster; and brother-in-law, Casey Kerkstra; preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 67 years, Jack; daughter, Cindy (Randy) Pylman; son-in-law, Doug Cogswell; grandchildren, Mariah Pylman and Andrew Kayser, Josh (Danielle) Cogswell, Nick Cogswell; two great grandchildren; brother, Dick Meyer; sisters-in-law, Carol Meyer, Rita Meyer, Josie Rickett, Edyth Kerkstra; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE, Grand Rapids, MI. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Stroo Funeral Home, with Rev. Calvin Compagner, officiating. Interment will be in Blain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Norma may be made to the Diabetes Association.
