Norma Mack Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2019.
Norma Lee Mack, born on July 4, 1928 in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Grace Sturkie and the late Dewey Sturkie, passed away at age 90 on March 11, 2019 in Auburn, Washington. She graduated from Univeristy of South Carolina and Swansea High School. She was in the Aerospace industry at Boeing Company as an Executive Assistant until retiring in 1999. Norma was the loving wife of the late Ehrman Mack. She was preceded in death by her son, James H Summer Jr; and sisters, Miriam Padgett and Melba Sturkie. Norma is survived by her daughters, Robyn Repenn and Brenda Burke; step son Don Mack, sister, Elsie Campbell; grandchildren, Jake Summer, Leena Summer, Tracy Burke, Vickie Shutt, Amanda Burke, Heather, Jordan and Megan Mack; and long time close friend, John Bannister. Norma loved spending time with family & friends. Always had extra room for pop in guests. To know her was to love her. You never had to guess what she was thinking because she would tell you whether you wanted to hear it or not! She was what you might consider "Old School" she gave old fashioned spankings with a switch. When I was growing up if I deserved a spanking, she'd make me go out in the backyard and pick a switch off a tree and bring it back to her so she could use it to spank me! AND if it wasn't good enough, well then she'd go get one herself and you'd get a worse spanking! She didn't mess around. She was very involved with her family, doing things like being a Team Mother for football while her husband was a coach, son played football and daughter was a cheerleader. She sewed and made clothes, cheerleader outfits and made all kinds of repairs. She sewed really well (she did hate doing zippers though). She was a very caring person, supportive and loving. She taught her children manners like yes mam, no mam, thank you mam and please. Respect your elders, help others and be kind. She was very patriotic. Always had the United States Flag up. All year long. She was such a cool Mom too! Even went to a Rock n Roll show that her son played in at the approximate age of 65 with her sister Elsie. Norma is the strongest lady I know, battled many health issues but managed to enjoy her life anyway. Her birthday being on the 4th of July suited her to a "T". A real firecracker herself full of spunk. There will never be another Norma Lee Mack. She will be greatly missed and loved forever. RIP Donations in Norma's name to American Heart Association and Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research are welcome and appreciated. A celebration of life will be private.

Norma Mack lived a great life, and was an amazing lady. A true southern bell. Her two children, Sonny + Robyn, have been my best friends for 30+ yrs. Norma had a huge impact on my life. She was so kind and caring. Always in a good mood. Always there for us, whether it be cooking meals, giving us a ride somewhere. I always thought she was such a cool mom. She would have some wine with us, and put up with all our loud music. lol. This genuine sweet soul, will forever be remembered, loved and missed.
Rest in Peace ma'am.
Love always,
Lisa Divine...
