Joyce was born on July 25, 1941, in Augusta, WV, a daughter of the late Orville and Viola Garrett. Joyce loved to bake, cook, & share her dishes at church, family gatherings, and delivering to friends. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she loved to decorate her home from top to bottom. She was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church in Clear Brook, VA. She was a housekeeper and homemaker. She was a wonderful mother that loved her children dearly, a good listener with a heart of gold that touched the heart of everyone she knew. She will be greatly missed.
Joyce married Clifton "Buddy" Marple on September 19, 1959. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2026.
Surviving are her children: Mark (Paula), David (Vicki), Sandra Grimm (Mike), and Donald (Beth). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She had a very special bond with her great-grandchild Hope.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Chester and Ashton Garrett, and Elma Senslerly.
A celebration of Buddy & Norma's life will be held at the Open Door Baptist Church in Clear Brook, VA on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Open Door Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Lane, Clear Brook, VA, 22624.
