Norma "Jean" Mauch (96) began her heavenly journey on October 27, 2024. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Bondurant Christian Church (304 Grant St S, Bondurant, IA 50035) from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the New Altoona cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bondurant Christian Church, Bondurant American Legion Auxiliary or the Altoona chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Norma "Jean" Mauch, 96, was born in Bondurant, Iowa on August 29,1928 to Norman C. and Velma (Stemler) Miller. She was accompanied a few minutes later by twin brother Robert. Jean began her heavenly life on October 27, 2024. On March 6,1948, Jean married the love of her life, Kendall Mauch, and they happily lived the remainder of their lives on the farm near Bondurant.

Jean enjoyed a full, prosperous life focused on her family and community. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kindness and generosity to others.

Jean and Kendall especially enjoyed exploring the United States having visited all 50 states. There were numerous summer family vacations, often in their pickup camper.

Jean's community activities included Bondurant Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star and serving as Clay township clerk for 40 years. In Eastern Star she held a number of leadership roles at the local and state level. She was a member of the state family 3 times.

She cherished family time. You could always expect family gatherings to include great food (lots of it) and highlighted by dessert. Jean was also a good seamstress creating numerous outfits for herself and daughter Sue. During the Altoona Centennial she created period attire for the family as they joined the parade in a Conestoga wagon.

Jean was a fan of Shirley Temple and had collections of dolls and VHS movies. Other collectables included lighthouses and many jigsaw puzzles. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren looked forward to receiving a "Chicken" check for birthdays and Christmas. These checks originated when the farm raised thousands of baby chicks at a time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Bob and sisters Janice Higginbottom and Mary Ann Brown. She is survived by her 3 children -Sue (Randy) McMain of Altoona, Steve (Cindy) Mauch of Plano, Tx, Dan (Linda) Mauch of Bondurant and grandchildren Kurt (Tammy) McMain, Bret (Tania) McMain, Andrea (Bo) Berntsen, Edward (Jenny) Mauch, Emily (Michael) Swinford, Kendall (Steve) Thatcher and Morgan (Chris) Bridges, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Bondurant Christian Church, Bondurant American Legion Auxiliary or Altoona Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
