Norma J. (Gaffron) Moreland, 89, of Erie passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
She was born in McKeesport, PA on February 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Price) Gaffron.
On August 25, 1950, Norma married the love of her life, Nelson J. Moreland, and together they had four children. Norma was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church until it closed, she was also a member of the Lutheran Church Women (LCW). She loved traveling and camping with her husband and children. Norma enjoyed cooking and sewing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, even if it was the simple things in life, like going shopping with her daughters. Norma loved holidays because that meant the entire family was gathered together.
In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson J. Moreland (1995), her sisters, Ruth Lowry, Mary Jane Gressman, Joann Lauffer, and her brothers, Carl Gaffron, Robert Gaffron, and George Gaffron.
She is survived by her children, John Moreland (Rozanne) of Cranesville, Linda Riesdorph of Erie, Phyllis Martin (Paul) of Harborcreek, and Jean Roache (Randy) of North East, grandchildren, Nelson Riesdorph (Deanna), Raymond Riesdorph Jr. (Mindy), Ken Martin (Kristy), Jennifer Martin, Aimee Dietz (George), Shayne Moreland, John Fetzner (Jessica), and Bryan Fetzner (Jillian), nine great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Moreland.
Services were private. A celebration of life, with a food menu written by Norma herself, will be held at a later date. The Kloecker-Bailey Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. is handling the arrangements. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com.
