Norma Jean O'Brien, 76, of Ogallala, passed away June 8, 2023, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Norma was born on July 1, 1946, in Spokane, Washington, and was adopted by Paul and Mary (Pitner) O'Brien. She attended high school in Benkelman.
She grew up in Benkelman with stops in Topeka, Goodland, and Denver before returning to Benkelman in 1999. In 2006, she moved to Ogallala to be closer to her family.
Norma was married to Alvin LeRoy Amack, and together they welcomed four children: Victoria, Robert, Helen Marie, and Mary Ann.
Norma had a deep love for Jesus and her Bible. She enjoyed spending time at church, whether it was playing games with the other church ladies, enjoying church breakfasts, or participating in fundraising activities. Her heart was with her church family. Norma cherished her time with her grandchildren no matter the occasion.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas D. "Tom" Swader Sr.
Survivors include her children: Victoria and Gabriel Blea of Ogallala, Robert and Valerie Paul Amack of Walsenburg, Colorado, Helen Marie and Chris Nelson of Bombay, Florida, and Mary Ann and John Cline of Benkelman; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by two brothers: Andy O'Brien of Omaha and Bill Bryant of St. Louis, Missouri. Her sister-in-law is Sandra Busey. Norma is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Norma's memory for later designation by her family. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live.
The services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2 PM at the Apostolic Family Worship Center, 110 Airport Road, Ogallala, Nebraska, 69153. Interment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 PM to 6 PM at Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of the arrangements.

Norma was a wonderful friend. We had many visits about God, and we enjoyed coloring together and making bulletin boards. I will never forget Norma. The fun, goofy, things we did together. I only knew her 10 months but I am sure glad I met her.
