Norma Jean Smitson, age 90 of Georgetown, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Villa Georgetown Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Georgetown, Ohio. She was born May 1, 1935 in LaSalle, Illinois the daughter of the late Vera Morris Yazell, Sr. and Nellie Blanche (Hinton) Yazell. Norma was a dedicated homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years – Gerald Smitson in 2013 whom she married January 5, 1957, five sisters – Mary Deffenbaugh, Velma Bedeker, Jean Tucker, Ruth Matusik and Margaret Utsler and three brothers – Raymond Yazell, Leo Yazell and Roy Yazell.
Mrs. Smitson is survived by three nephews – Kent Tucker, Keith Tucker and wife Trish and Kevin Tucker all of Georgetown, Ohio as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the Higginsport Cemetery in Higginsport, Ohio. Kevin Whitsett will officiate. The Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio is serving the family.
