Ticonderoga. Norma Jean Woods, 76, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the CVPH Medical Center of Plattsburgh.
Born in Ticonderoga, September 1, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Mary (Taylor) Peters.
Norma Jean was raised in Chilson and was a lifetime resident of Ticonderoga.
She was employed by Arthur Drugs in Ticonderoga as a Pharmacy Assistant for many years.
Norma Jean was very active in the Ticonderoga community, serving as cub scout Den Leader and Ticonderoga Little League volunteer. Many will remember her from the Little League Snack Shack, which she ran for many years. She also served as a Foster Care Provider and was a volunteer for Cub Scout Camp Wakpominee in Fort Ann.
Norma enjoyed shopping at Rummage Sales and Thrift Shops, especially the First United Methodist Church Thrift Shop. She loved the music of "Elvis" and "The Beatles".
Her greatest enjoyment was her family and she was most passionate about being a grandmother and recently a great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brothers, Robert Peters, Sr. and Chester Peters; her sister, Joan Ann Swarthout; and her special companion and father to her children, Stanley Cobb.
Survivors include her two daughters, Corinna Woods and Tabitha Woods, both of Ticonderoga; six grandchildren, Jordan Woods of Saratoga, New York, Janel Woods of Lucedale, Mississippi, Anthony Woods, Noah Ahern, Mollie Woods and Addyson Jordan, all of
Ticonderoga, New York; three great-grandchildren, Kylan Dossett, Kreed Price of Lucedale, Mississippi, and Octavia Woods of Ticonderoga; five brothers, Norman Peters (Terrie) of Oklahoma, Steven Peters (Jenny) and C. Peter Peters of Putnam, Bernard Peters and Matthew Peters of Ticonderoga; six sisters, Charlotte Belden of Crown Point, Connie Peeters, Tammy Tompkins (Tony), Lisa Peters all of Ticonderoga, Marjorie LaPointe of Putnam, and Cathy Kilgore (Kurt) of Ceres, California; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St.,
Ticonderoga, NY.
A Funeral Service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Tyler, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.
A Reception will follow from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Elk's Lodge in Ticonderoga.
Interment will take place in the Spring at the family plot in the Chilson Community Cemetery.
