Normadene's life started in DeGraff, Ohio, in 1939. She and her siblings and parents lived in the country and had a few chickens. She married her high school beau and had 3 children, 2 boys and a girl. They will tell you of fun times of gathering field corn and getting hung up on the fence. God was a huge part of their home and life.

Normadene loved listening to Willie Nelson, Blue Grass Gospel and one of her favorite movies was Dr. Zhivago in 1965. She worked at the Box Factory in DeGraff for a time and then was able to work for Siemens in Bellefontaine, Ohio, as a key punch operator. Normadene retired from Siemens in Bellefontaine. She also worked a second job at the Red Lantern Restaurant for 10 years while she raised her children by herself.

Normadene loved her family and ensured that they were provided for. She was a hard worker. She also was an excellent bowler. She loved to draw when she was younger but as life got busier there were more important responsibilities that she had managed. Normadene was an avid horse rider. She was a member of the Horse Congress and rode in the parades each year. After Normadene married Calvin Schramm, she moved to his home in Edison, Georgia. That is when she became an accomplished deer hunter using her high-powered rifles and was a good fisherman. She was proud to tell that "I can field dress a deer and bring it out of the woods after I shoot it."

She and her husband owned a 100-acre farm with a pond on it that they visited regularly. She mowed it regularly and tended to the beavers there. Normadene was also an active member of the Eastern Star in Georgia and in Sidney, Ohio. Her husband was a county commissioner and after he passed away, she fulfilled his duties for the last year of his obligation as commissioner. After he passed, she was instrumental in obtaining a communication center for Calhoun County to make first responders more efficient. It was named after her husband, Schramm's Communication Center established in 2014, which took all the calls for police, sheriff, fire and EMS departments within Calhoun County, GA.

Normadene gardened, was a good cook, took care of her home, loved her cats and wasn't ever a quitter. She loved the Lord with all her heart and trusted Him with everything. She was loved by many and will be missed heavily by her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026 at Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff, Ohio. Pastor Tim Spriggs will officiate a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.

So very sorry to hear of her passing. She and Calvin were longtime friends and came to Christmas breakfast for several years before we had children and considered an extra set of grandparents by them. Mrs. Dee will be missed by all of our family.
