Norman Dodes, Beloved Partner, Father, and Friend

Norman Dodes, affectionately known as "Big Norm," passed away on September 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with a rare cancer. Born on March 23, 1966, in Manhattan, where he was raised, and later growing up in Flushing, Queens, Norman was proud to be a New Yorker, carrying the spirit of the city in his heart. He resided in Boca Raton, Florida, where he built a vibrant life filled with love and connection. He was 59 at the time of his passing, and his spirited presence touched the lives of all who knew him.

Norman was the devoted partner of Carrie Caruso, whom he proudly called his spouse. He was a loving father to his two sons, James and Jack, and a cherished son to his mother, Toula Dodes, and his late father, Demetrios Dodes. Norman is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Suzie and Jack Constantine, his nephews, Ernie and his wife Carly, and James and his wife Lauren, his chosen family-lifelong best friend Charles Pialtos, with whom he shared 55 years of friendship-and his first wife, Rachel Rosenfeld, the mother of his sons. His work family of 23 years was an extension of his heart, embracing him as one of their own.

Big Norm lived life with boundless joy, pouring his love into his family, friends, and work. Deeply rooted in the Greek Orthodox Church, he found strength and community in his faith, which guided him throughout his life. His magnetic personality drew people close, and as many would say, "If you don't like Big Norm, there's something wrong with you." His legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering loyalty will live on in everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A church viewing and funeral will be held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 11-05 150th Street, Whitestone, NY 11357, on September 9, 2025. The viewing will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Flushing Cemetery, 163-06 46th Ave, Flushing, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Benevolent Society Ladies of Kastoria, 150-28 14th Ave, Whitestone, NY 11357, in Norman's memory.
