Norman J. Miller of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026 in his home community of Luther Ridge. Born on May 29, 1934 to loving parents Ruth Yeager and Norman Sellers Miller, Jerry was a steady and beloved presence in his hometown for nearly 92 years.

Jerry was a member of the Chambersburg High School Class of 1952, where he enjoyed his time as a member of the track and field team, and the glee club. Jerry went on to further his education at Penn State. Following his educational career, Jerry joined The Hershey Company as a sales representative, and later joined the Nabisco Biscuit Company as a district sales representative, retiring after 33 years of service in 1992.

The true heart of Jerry’s story began on May 12, 1957, when he married his beloved wife Doris Cook Miller. Throughout their 68 years of marriage, they shared a life defined by laughter, joy and a deep, enduring devotion to one another. They were the proud parents of Stephanie J. Baltozer and Eric J. Miller, who remain a testament to the loving home Jerry and Doris built together.

Jerry’s heart for service was visible in every corner of his community. At St. John’s United Church of Christ, he was a cornerstone of the congregation, serving as a Deacon, Elder, Trustee, and sharing his faith as a devoted Sunday School teacher for 12 years. He also enjoyed many years singing with the church choir. His commitment to fellowship extended to the George Washington Lodge #143 of Free and Accepted Masons, the Shriners of Zembo Temple, and the Waynesboro Shrine Club. As a proud member of the Shriners, Jerry provided numerous rides to Shriners hospital for children in need of medical care. Whether serving as Vice President for the Southern Pennsylvania AAA or meeting with the Noontime Lions Club, Jerry was always looking for ways to give back. Perhaps his most humble and heroic legacy, however, was his dedication to the American Red Cross. A 200-time blood donor, Jerry gave 25 gallons of blood throughout his lifetime, a contribution that he complemented by serving as a Bloodmobile volunteer.

Jerry’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris; his children, Stephanie (husband Jeff) and Eric (wife Liz); his four grandchildren, Chad (wife Sara), Logan (wife Caroline), Margaux, and Marina; and four great-grandchildren, Anna, August, Jack, and Ruby. Jerry will be forever remembered for his joyous energy, his caring for others, and his unwavering devotion to those he held dear.

Please join the family as we celebrate Jerry's life at an informal gathering on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 4 PM at the Fleck Center, Luther Ridge Spirit Trust, 2998 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

In lieu of flowers and to honor his lifelong contributions to the Shiners organization, donations can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Jerry’s memory.
