Norman S. Mathis, Jr.
1927-2022
Norm, a member of First Baptist Grove Avenue Church, has graduated to a far better place to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Norm was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Scull Mathis, his first wife, Mary Acker Mathis, his second wife, Carol Remington Mathis, and by his sisters; Deborah S. White and Mary S. Scanlan.
He is survived by his three daughters who he loved so much; Lynn S. Colosi, Cindy L. Greif, and Marci A. Welsh and their husbands; Tony Colosi, Ed Greif and Jack Welsh Jr. Three precious granddaughters; Lauren Colosi Hopkins, Samantha Colosi Jamerson, and Alyssa Greif. Norm was also blessed with three great grandchildren; Matthew Jamerson, Harper Lynn Hopkins, and Shaelynn Jamerson.
Norm served his Country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He retired as Asst. County Engineer for Somerset County, N.J.
Norm will miss his breakfast companions and good friends; Rev. Pat Langston, a man of great faith, Gary Farrar, and Jerry Cratcliff. Norm will also miss playing tennis with his friends at the Racketeers Club in Richmond, VA.
A private graveside service was held for Norm in Egg Harbor Township, NJ on December 14, 2022.
