I knew Norm for 50 years as a friend and as a mentor. As a friend, he was loyal and generous. As a mentor, he was a skilled engineer and manager.

Over these years, the rate of technologic change has been staggering. Throughout, he kept his skills current and relevant. Our professional careers overlapped a few times over the years. He was a perfectionist in its best sense.

I will miss his playful humor and the good times I spent with Norm and Betty on his sailboat. He loved the challenge and complexity of captaining and navigating his boat.

He was the best of friends. I grieve at his loss and wish his family the best.
