Norman "Fred" O'Neal, 73, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. Born on January 21, 1952, in Berea, Kentucky, he was the son of Herman and Gertrude (Delph) O'Neal. A United States Army veteran, Fred honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of VFW Post 3281 in New Albany.
Fred was known as a hard worker and simple man; he enjoyed spending time in his garage with a cold Budweiser, engaging in discussions about sports, and sharing laughter while playing cards with friends. Sometimes referred to as "Stormin' Norman," Fred would cut loose and be sure to show off his dance moves.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Hilt) O'Neal, and his children, Freddie Lee O'Neal, Micah Enright, Nancy O'Neal, Nora McIntosh (Brandon), Nicole Murdock (Matt), Nina O'Neal (Noah), Ryan O'Neal (Samantha), and Nessa Sadler; grandchildren, Natalia, Rayna, Patrick, Chasten, Ayden, Bailey, Gavin, Luke, Breonna, Azerias, Ezaias, and Gigi, and great-grandchildren, Cami, Hadley, Amelia, and Jett. He also leaves behind his siblings, Kim, Junior, and Jamie Lynn.
Preceding Fred in death were his parents and his beloved grandson, Justin O'Neal.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, with cremation to follow according to Fred's wishes.
In celebrating Fred's life, his family invites you to raise a beer and give a toast in his honor.
