Norman Rogers Parron, Jr., 71, of
Chesapeake, VA, stepped into Heaven on Sunday, January 18, 2026, after a third battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of the Tidewater area, where he built a beautiful life with his wife and daughter.
Norman loved spending time with his grandchildren, going fishing, impersonating Donald Duck, listening to Elvis Presley, and taking naps in his recliner. He enjoyed going out to eat with Hazel at local restaurants or simply going for a drive. In his younger years, you could find him riding every roller coaster with Jenny at Busch Gardens until they both had headaches. He would joke with Tony that he was a serial killer, to which Tony would say he's a cereal killer of Fruity Pebbles. A favorite weekend activity with Cecylia would be to wake up at the crack of dawn, make a pit stop at 7-11 for a Slurpee and a snack, and park by the airport runway to see the planes take off. There was always a good laugh if he went fishing with Cody, because Cody always caught more fish. Heading to a Tides game was a must once a year, especially when he got to dress up like a Mexican on Cinco de Mayo with Landon and win first place in a costume contest to be shown on the jumbotron screen. When the weather warmed up, Norman's car was always perfectly detailed with a daily wipe-down, and he never hesitated to let you know if your car needed a wash, too. His immense love for God was evident in his life. Faith was at the forefront of his character, and he was always eager to share how great Jesus is and how He can change your life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Hazel Parron of
Chesapeake, VA; his daughter, Jenny Meads, and her husband, Jerrald "Tony" Meads, of
Virginia Beach, VA; and three grandchildren, Cecylia Szewczyk, Cody Meads, and Landon Meads.
Other survivors include his sister, Patricia La'Flamme of
Virginia Beach, VA, and two brothers, Stanley Parron of Lynn Haven, FL, and Alter Parron of Southport, FL.
Norman was a native of
Norfolk, VA, and the son of the late Norman Parron, Sr., and Dorothy Parron. He was also predeceased by an infant sister, Linda Parron.
He retired from the Norfolk Airport Authority after 22 years of service and later worked for Eastern Virginia Medical School, retiring as a maintenance engineer. He also worked part-time at Taylor's Do-It Center.
Norman was a member of Haygood United Methodist Church in
Virginia Beach, VA, and also attended Salem United Methodist Church in
Virginia Beach, VA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 11:00am - 12:30pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel on Rouse Drive in
