Nuala O'Faolain

A fri used to send me O'Faolain's Monday editorial from the Irish Times and what grand articles she did. O'Faolain traveled the world and those stories were first class.

Just listened to an early 2000 radio interview on CBC with Nuala, will seek out her books. I've been to Ireland twice.

I have read 'Are You Somebody' twice now and regret never writing you to tell you how you inspired me. Now, it's too late. I will make it my personal journey to get every book you've written and read it... You were superb! I only wish I'd taken the time to tell you that while you could have read it and known for yourself how brilliant I thought you were. Rest in Peace, Nuala... Maybe we shall meet one day after all...

I read your book "Are you somebody?". It reminded me of growing up in Ireland. Thank you. I was grieved to hear, some years later of your death. May you rest in peace.

WEEP NOT FOR ME


Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

A lot of goodness went out of the world when Nuala died. No other modern writer has touched my heart like she did and i know that she had a great soul. My best love to you Nuala and all her family.

My sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Nuala O'Faolin. It was only recently that I came to know of this thoughtful, soulful person & am truly grateful for that.

I had first heard Nuala a number of years ago on CBC and then just today again on CBC's Writer's & Company. She was such an amazing woman, writer, and communicator. Her humour was second to none in my opinion. I am so grateful to have discovered her books and am very saddened to learn of her death. I will celebrate her life in reading her books and look forward to doing so. I know she's found her very special place in Heaven even though she'd be the most surprized I don't think anyone else will be, because she really was somebody, a beautiful soul. I just heard the news this morning, I feel as if I've lost a good friend, even though I never met her or saw her in person. I have all her books and was touched by her writing.

Through Nuala I rediscovered the Ireland where I spent one of the happiest summers in my life, 1967.I loved her way of writing like she was talking to me personally. I hope she died in peace.

I feel like I have lost a very special friend.

To the sisters and family of Ms. O'Faolain, please accept my condolences at this time of deep sadness. Please take comfort in God's word the Bible at Revelation 21:1-5 because God cannot lie. He promises us life again. Psalms 83:18 May you all take comfort.
