Orville “Dale” Berg, 73, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, in Fargo, ND. He was born on October 22, 1950, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Orville C. and Opal J. Berg. He grew up in Ashby, MN, where he attended public school and graduated high school in 1968. Dale went on to graduate from Alexandria Tech with a degree in accounting.
It was at Tech school where he met Jan. They had two daughters, Apryll and Jodie. They were married for 28 years.
Dale enjoyed all types of sports, whether it was watching or playing them. He played point guard for the high school basketball team and continued playing long after high school. He played darts, pool and softball on many teams over the years. As he got older, he started playing golf, where he once got the quintessential hole-in-one. He enjoyed watching the MN Vikings, even though they never won a Super Bowl and ran different sports boards throughout the year.
Dale had numerous friends that he loved to hang out with. He was always up for a drink and pull tabs. With his friends and family alike, he enjoyed playing cards from whist, pinochle, head and foot, Texas Hold ‘em and more.
Dale enjoyed going to the lake and spending time with his sisters, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Dale’s biggest love in life was his two Grandsons, Owen and Liam. He enjoyed taking them for milkshakes, fishing and other outings. He enjoyed going to their school programs. Dale was fortunate enough to be living with them at the time of his passing.
Dale worked at CopyKat printing for over 20 years, where he was the smile in the front office.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne, a sister Marie, his aunts and uncles.
Dale is survived by his daughters, Apryll (Curt Monk) and Jodie (Steve Klocke); grandsons, Owen and Liam Kottenbrock; bonus grandchildren, Nora, Hannah, Izzie and Will Klocke; two sisters, Judy (Wayne) Stierlen and Faith Berg. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and more friends than we can count.
