After a courageous 7-year battle with bladder cancer, Buddy took his last breath here on earth and passed into Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior. He died on November 25, 2025 at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, VA, with family by his side.
Buddy Catterton was born in Washington, DC on October 9, 1941. He was the son of the late Nellie and Oden Clifton Catterton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Shirley Gray, Dorothy Welling, Carrie Owens, and brother Earl Catterton.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years Marie Catterton, daughters Theresa (Kevin) Doherty and Lisa Walker; grandchildren Brandon Levendusky, Sarah Levendusky, Blake Walker and Trent Walker, brother Richard Catterton, and sister Diana Fisher.
Buddy was retired from the HVAC Unit of the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, DC. He was a lifetime member of the Accokeek Voluntary Fire Department and Rescue Squad in Accokeek, Maryland where he was a resident for 45 years.
Buddy always liked fixing things and was often tinkering with things around the house and garage until he fixed the problem. He loved spending time with his family, travel, cruises, jigsaw puzzles, gospel music, and old-fashioned blue grass. He was a very loving, kind, and considerate husband, father, and grandfather. He was always eager to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever there was a need. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be at Bristow Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda, Virginia at a later date. Interment will follow at Lower Methodist Church in Hartfield, Virginia.
