Odis Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by D.M. Williams Funeral Home, Inc. - Rochester on Nov. 17, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Odis "JUICE" Jones, age 73, of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully at St. John's Nursing Home in Rochester, with family by his side on November 13, 2025. He was born on March 2, 1953, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late James and Betty Jones. The family later settled in Rochester, where Odis built his life, his family, and a legacy of love.
Education, Service, and Career
Odis attended Clara Barton School No. 2 and George Mather Forbes School No. 4 before continuing to Madison High School, home of the purple and gold. During his years at Madison, he was actively involved in school clubs, social committees, and a variety of sports. He participated in wrestling and soccer, but his true passions were basketball and football-where he proudly served as the school's star quarterback. He continued his education at Geneseo College and, in 1979, joined the United States Army, where he honorably served his country for six years. After his military service, Odis began working at Strong Memorial Hospital/University of Rochester in 1989, dedicating 12 years to loyal and dependable service. In 2004, he joined the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, where he greeted the Rochester community with warmth, grace, and a smile for 20 years, until his health began to fail.
Faith, Character, and Personal Life
Anyone who knew Odis knew of his deep and unwavering love for God. Faith had been instilled in him at a young age, and although he explored different traditions throughout his life, he held firmly to his belief that there is only one God. Odis had a thirst for knowledge and believed wholeheartedly that education was the key to success. He was a man defined by his virtues-standing up for justice, living with integrity, and treating everyone with respect. He was compassionate, a motivator, a teacher, and a loyal friend who always offered a listening ear-and even muscle-when someone needed help. There are countless words to describe Odis because he was truly one of a kind-a devoted Child of God.
Hobbies and Joys
Odis was known for his playful spirit. He was a joyful prankster who loved telling corny jokes, teasing family and friends, and giving people funny nicknames that often stayed with them for years. He loved to dress well-stylish in every season-and took pride in always looking and smelling his best, often selling fragrant oils to others who shared his appreciation. He also loved to sing, whether alone or surrounded by loved ones. Odis enjoyed food of all kinds and even earned a certificate in culinary arts. He balanced that love with his passion for staying active. Known by many as "Mr. Workout Man," he enjoyed lifting weights, bike riding, running bleachers, and walking everywhere he could. His commitment to fitness kept him strong and lean throughout his life.
Family
Odis is survived by his children, Patrice Allen, Quincy (Jacalyn) Jones and Charmaine Jones; grandchildren, Marquis, Alliyah, J'Nai, Parris, Victoria and Xavier; great-granddaughter, Ja'cia. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Sarah Johnson and Rhonda Snowden; as well as his treasured aunts, Mary and Ann Tramel; a host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Tori Murphy, along with numerous friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.
