Our Queen, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and guiding light, Ofelia Almanza Juarez, was welcomed into eternal rest on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Odessa, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 3, 1934, in Barstow, Texas, to Roman Almanza and Delfina Ruiz, Ofelia was the heart and soul of our family. She married the love of her life, Victoriano “Pole” Juarez Sr., on January 27, 1951, and together they raised eleven children in a home full of love, faith, and tradition.
Ofelia was the matriarch—the glue that held us together. She was our peacemaker, our counselor, the one who reminded us to forgive, to love, and to carry on. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the mouthwatering whiff of homemade tortillas. There was nothing better than walking in, grabbing butter, and eating a fresh tortilla straight off her comal-a memory we will cherish forever.
Holidays at her house, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, were unforgettable. She was always the first one awake, preparing meals for the entire family, and the last one to go to bed after making sure everything was cleaned and everyone was cared for.
A devoted homemaker, Ofelia found joy in caring for others. She loved camping, fishing, and wasn’t afraid to try her luck at the slot machines. She was also a faithful member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Barstow, where her faith served as a foundation of her life.
Ofelia is preceded in death by her husband, Victoriano “Pole” Juarez Sr.; her parents, Roman and Delfina Almanza; her siblings, Ernesto Almanza, Adolfo Almanza, and Otilia Garcia; her sons, Hipolito Juarez, Victoriano Juarez Jr., and Danny Juarez; her grandson, Joseph Juarez; her great-grandsons, Aron Juarez and Marcos Brown; and her great-granddaughter, Jahnessa Juarez.
She is survived by her sons, Joe Juarez and wife Jana, Benny Juarez, Israel Juarez and wife Ramie, Ismael Juarez and wife Rosalba, Johnny Juarez and wife Robin; her daughters, Olga Juarez Mendoza, Irene Juarez, Rachel Juarez; her sisters, Josefa Segovia, Consuelo Naegele, Lucilla Quiroz. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at Pecos Funeral Home in Pecos, Texas. Rosary will be Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Barstow, Texas at 10:00am with burial to follow at Barstow Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Heather Gonzales, Yesenia Juarez, Isaiah Juarez, Victor “Chipo” Juarez, Teofilo “Buddy” Madrid III, and Ramon Mendoza.
"With her endless wisdom and boundless love, she was the heart and soul of our family. She was the keeper of our stories, the guardian of our traditions, and the confidant who guided us through life’s journey."
