Ofelia Rivas Obituary
Ofelia was born December 24, 1948 in Refugio, Texas to Cristobal (Cantu) and Gregorio Ruiz. She lived in Sinton currently, moving back to the town she grew up in. Ofelia resided in Houston most of her adult life, where she and her husband raised their family. She worked as a Bank Teller, Retail Manager, Restaurant Owner, stay- at- home mom and caregiver. Ofelia was the cashier and friendly face who greeted you at Back Street Café where she was well-known by frequent diners. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding in death are her husband: Manuel Rivas, Sr.; parents: Gregorio and Cristobal Ruiz; brother: George Ruiz; and sister: Emma Ruiz.
Survivors include her sons: Manuel Rivas, Jr. (Sorayda) from Pasadena, Texas and George Rivas from Houston, Texas; 3 grandchildren: Abigail Farris (Brandon) from Corpus Christi, Texas, Alyssa Rivas and Joshua Gonzales; great-grandchild: Darren Colt Meighan; brothers: Joe Ruiz (Itza) from McAllen, Texas and Michael Ruiz (Delia) from Humble, Texas; sisters: Julia Arroyo, Lydia Covarrubias and Chris Sanchez (Ramiro), all from Sinton, Texas; Josie Ruiz from Houston, Texas and Mary Jane Casanova (Noe) from Kingwood, Texas.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, 1:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Funeral Service will be held the same afternoon, 5:00 PM at the funeral home with Mr. Tim Rogers officiating. Burial will be private.
