Mrs. Bond attended Douglass Elementary School and graduated from Carver High School, both in Brownsville, Tennessee, then attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. She worked as an educator in the Flint Community Schools for many years, and enjoyed sewing, singing ("operatic soprano" style), shopping, traveling, reciting poetry, and most of all spending time with family. Mrs. Bond also lived by Biblical principles, which she shared with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Sunday School students, and anyone else she en-countered. Additionally, she always had a kind or encouraging word, or a meaningful bible verse to share, hoping to lift another's spirits.
Growing up on a farm in Stanton, Tennessee, "June" enjoyed her child-hood as the sixth of thirteen children. Her family was noted in the com-munity as a close-knit family of high standards and character. She cher-ished the values her parents instilled in her and carried them into her own family life as a wife and mother.
On December 25th, 1955, in Stanton, Tennessee, Mrs. Bond mar-ried the love of her life, Herman (James) Bond, and that same year, they relocated to Flint, Michigan. From this union came one son Roscoe Cur-tis; and four daughters: Sharon Renee, Letitia, Ramona Sophia, and Sonya June. "Momma" and "Daddy" lovingly provided their children with a rich, spiritual foundation to carry them through life's many under-takings.
Mrs. Ola June Bond leaves to cherish her adoring children, one son: Roscoe (Lavern) Bond of Flint, Michigan; three daughters: Sharon Bond and Letitia Bond, both of Flint, Michigan, and Dr. Sonya (John) Hicks of Indianapolis, Indiana; one son-in-law, Randall Talifarro of Fountain Hills, Arizona. Also, one stepdaughter, Bernetta Hopkins (and family) of Sterling Heights, Michigan.
Mrs. Bond also leaves seven grandchildren who loved her dearly. They are: Jerron (Chanel) Jackson of Los Angeles, California; Elena Bond of Flint, Michigan; Ramone (Salihah) Talifarro of Indianapolis, Indiana; Justen Bond of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Roland Talifarro of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Jillian Anderson (Javonte) of Chicago, Illinois; and Matthew Hicks of Sherman Oaks, California.
Additionally, she leaves ten precious great-grandchildren: Justice Akhil Jackson, Ramona Talifarro, Amir Jackson, Alissa Bond, Nehemiah Tali-farro, Aiya Bond, Nadae Talifarro, Ava Jackson, Josiah Talifarro, and Zora Jackson.
Mrs. Bond also leaves her devoted fraternal twin-sister, Carrie Jean Jackson of Toledo, Ohio, with whom shares many special and last-ing memories; brother, Samuel (Norma) Jones of Riverside, California, sister, Elvis Yvonne Bates of St. Ann, Missouri, and sister-in-law, Gwen Jones of Columbia, Missouri, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
