Olene Gay Blair

Gay Blair, age 93, beloved mother passed away February 27,2026. she was a lifelong New Mexican resident and was born on the Eastern side of the state in Tucumcari New Mexico where her parents had been involved in agriculture in House New Mexico. She was the youngest of 5 children, she had two brothers and two sisters, and she was the last surviving sibling. She later moved with her parents to Truth or Consequences New Mexico when they were retiring, this is where she graduated high school. Even though Truth or Consequences is usually considered a retirement community, she had multiple friends she met living there and they remained in touch their entire lives. She was very involved in school reunions and often talked about her high school graduation trip to Mexico and the trip her graduating class made to scale Turtle Back Mountain close to Truth or Consequences. She was also very involved in her church from a young age and was a member of The Montgomery Church of Christ prior to it being built on Montgomery. She was married to Ernest Blair, who passed away in September 2021.Her main job was raising her children. When her husband started their own business, she was a secretary and an accountant. She was married to Ernest Blair for 63 years. She is survived by four children, Sherri, Dana, Susan and Ernie. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Steven, Tami, Trevor and Blair, and four great grandchildren, Ingrid, Imoen, Dexter and Donovan. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The visitation will be held on March 16,2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Daniels Funeral Home 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Funeral will be held at The Montgomery Church of Christ 7201 Montgomery Blvd on March 19, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on March 23,2026 at 11:00 A.M.
