Olga Capote Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alvarez Funeral Home, Inc. - Newark on Jan. 19, 2026.
Olga Capote, born on December 6, 1929, in Céspedes, Camagüey, Cuba, peacefully went to be with the Lord in her sleep on January 17, 2026, at 6:30 a.m., and is now rejoicing in His eternal presence. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, resilience, and devotion to family. She was the beloved daughter of Pedro Varona and Maria Del Toro, and one of seven children, growing up surrounded by strong family values that shaped her life.

A devoted Christian, Olga lived her life guided by faith, compassion, and prayer. Her unwavering belief in God gave her strength through life's challenges and was a constant source of comfort and inspiration to her family.

Olga was a devoted wife to her late husband, Basilio Capote, with whom she built a life rooted in love, hard work, and dedication to family. In her early 50s, Olga courageously emigrated from Cuba to the United States in pursuit of a better future, ultimately settling in New Jersey, where she created a warm and welcoming home for generations to come.

She was a proud and loving mother to her sons Basilio and Roger Capote, and a cherished mother-in-law to Maria Capote. Olga's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren: Kristen, Christopher, Nicholas, Kesley, Timothy, Kaylee, Basilio Jr., Roger, and Maryanne.

She was also blessed to be a loving great-grandmother to Olivia, Julian, Noah, Sophia, Maddie, Lorenzo, Lucy, Zoey, and Izaiah.

Olga will be remembered for her strength, kindness, unwavering faith, and the deep love she carried for her family and heritage. Her wisdom, gentle heart, and steadfast spirit will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.

She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.

Family and friends are invited to the Funeral, Tuesday, January 20 from 11:00AM-1:00PM.

Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
