Olive Doss Thweatt, 97, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Southside Medical Center. She was born on July 16, 1928, in Petersburg, Virginia to the late Jesse E. and Dorothy Sadler Doss and was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clifford Epps Thweatt, Jr. Olive was a lifelong member of West End Baptist Church, where she faithfully taught Sunday School and served her church for many years. She also enjoyed shopping and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Thornton and husband, Tom; granddaughter, Kelly O’Connell and husband, Tommy; grandson, Tommy Thornton and wife, Alisha; great-grandchildren, Emma, Caelin, Takoa, and Rudd; brother, Raymond E. Doss and wife, Gloria; and sister, Judi Doss Tucker and husband, Robert. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Dr. Mark Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, N. Dinwiddie, Virginia 23803.
