Olivia P Lopez age 91 of Toledo, Ohio went to be with the Lord her Savior on December 17, 2025, surrounded by her children. Olivia was born on April 27, 1934, in Kerrville, Texas to Regino and Delfina (Lopez) Portillo. Olivia grew up in Erie, Michigan and then moved to Monroe, Michigan. She married Jesus Lopez Sr., and had been married for 54 years. Together they had raised their five children in Toledo, Ohio.
Olivia worked as a nurse's aide at Cherry Hill Nursing Home in Toledo and later retired from Parkview Hospital where she worked in housekeeping. She was known for her cooking and will be remembered for her amazing flour tortillas. No one ever left her house hungry.
When she was not cooking or watching the Detroit Tigers, she would be listening to Mexican music and dancing. However, she liked listening to Elvis Presley and you could find her clicking her fingers and tapping her feet to his music. Her favorite song was Suspicious Minds. Olivia and her sisters would get together to play Loteria (Mexican bingo). They were such high rollers; they played with pennies. Above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially her children. She had a strong Catholic faith.
Olivia is survived by her sons, Jesus (Juanita) Lopez Jr., Art (Tammy) Lopez and daughter Deborah Lopez-Lutts, brother Henry Portillo, sister Erlinda Little and sister-in-law Sherry Portillo, 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, loving husband Jesus Lopez Sr., daughters Lydia Barrera-Ramirez and Virginia Lopez, sisters Christina Garcia and Hortencia Soto, brothers, Pedro, Paul, Antonio and Ernesto Portillo, son-in-law Dennis Lutts and two great granddaughters.
The children will be receiving family and friends Friday, December 26, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, Ohio. Her funeral mass will begin Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
