Olivia Bracy Thompson was born on August 8, 1955, in Madison, Mississippi, to the late Roby and Verlillian Bracy. She was the beloved middle daughter among twelve children. Olivia transitioned peacefully from this life to continue her walk with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 27, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband, and her daughter.
A proud graduate of Madison Ridgeland High School, Olivia maintained her passion for learning throughout her lifetime. She pursued coursework in early childhood development at Holmes Jr. College. For many years, she was employed at Assisi Early Learning Center.
Olivia was filled with a spirit of compassion and blessed with the gift of service. She dedicated her life to caring for and uplifting others.
She loved being a homemaker, enjoyed the fragrance of fresh-cut flowers, and was known by many as a seasoned shopping expert. But the title she cherished most was Nana. Her grandson, Champ, often said, "She gives the best Nana hugs."
As a follower of Christ, she was a faithful member of Fellowship Bible Church. Olivia demonstrated her faith through women's Bible studies and volunteering for ministry projects. As a loving sister, wife, mother, friend, and mentor, she influenced many lives with her gentle presence and steadfast faith.
She is survived by her two sons, Sebastian (Lori, grandson Champ) of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Xavier of Houston, Texas. Her surviving siblings are Deloise Bracy Smothers, Doristine Grays (Charlie), Robert Bracy (Phyllis), Bobbie Bracy, Leora Anderson (Harvey), Edward Bracy (Rita), Nancy Youngblood, Jacquline Bracy, and Lillian Thompson, along with many other family members and friends.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day."
- 2 Timothy 4:7–8 (NIV)
