Ollie Lambert Knighting

Ollie Lambert Knighting, 90, of Rockingham, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Augusta Medical Center, in Fishersville, VA.
Mrs. Knighting was born on February 27, 1935, in the Cherry Grove area of Pendleton County, WV and was the daughter of the late Ezra Jacob Lambert and Bettie Vandevander Lambert.
She currently attended church at Truth Light and Life Ministries, where she prepared newsletters and would provide ministry to those in nursing facilities. She previously attended Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren where she was an active part of the church womens group. Her beautiful flower beds and garden were her pride and joy all year especially Spring and Summer. She loved to hand sew quilts and often times would donate lap quilts to area nursing homes. One of her favorite things to do was to cook, especially spaghetti casserole, vegetable soup, and red velvet and caramel cakes and took great pride in sharing them with others.
On August 18, 1951, she married Calvin North Knighting. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2000, after 48 years of marriage.
Ollie is survived by two daughters, Marlene Grimm of Rockingham and Kathy Hitt of New Hope; son-in-law, like a son, Danny Eye; two grandchildren, Patricia Merica and husband Todd, and Kevin Hitt; great-grandchildren, Autumn Hitt and Destiny Hitt; great-great-granddaughter, Emily Elaine Crider; sister, Sudie Wisman and husband, Clark; sister-in-law, Charlotte Lambert and numerous extended family members to include Carolyn Davis and Bonitta Hevener-Guyer who she loved like daughters.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Knighting Eye; sisters, Syvil Lambert and husband George, and Madelena Logan; brother, Hoy Lambert and son-in-law, Owen Grimm.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg with Pastors Mahlon Riehl, Eric Campbell and DJ Stoltzfus officiating. Burial will be private at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, the casket will remain closed.
