Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Inc. - Morehead on Feb. 2, 2026.
Omer Arnold Mabry, born November 7, 1933, in
Morehead, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 31, 2026.
Omer lived a life centered on love and family. He was a man who believed in showing up for the people he cared about and offering a helping hand whenever it was needed. His gentle nature and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Guyan Sloan Mabry; his daughters, Diane Winkle of
Morehead, Kentucky, and Shawna Kidd (Chris) of
Morehead, Kentucky; and his son, Marvin Mabry of East Point, Kentucky. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Brooklynn Williams, Shiane Blundell, Ethan Blundell, Dakota Mabry, Denise Lelesch, Shirley Doll, and Amanda Sanders. He also had four great-grandchildren, Brett, Destanee, Kortney, and Kamryn; and one great-great-granddaughter, Adalyn, along with other extended family and friends who will forever miss him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Nickell Mabry Elam of Columbus, Ohio; his father, Thomas Mabry of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; his sisters, Loraina Gillenwater of Columbus, Ohio, and Flo Elam-Hicks of West Liberty, Kentucky; his brothers, Lawrence Elmo Mabry and Howard Mabry, both of Columbus, Ohio; his sons, Arnold Wayne Mabry and Thomas Allen Mabry, both of
Morehead, Kentucky; and his daughter, Donna Joyce Mabry of
Morehead, Kentucky.
Omer found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could spend hours at the table playing cards, particularly rummy and Uno, creating laughter and memories that will live on forever. He loved his pets and enjoyed talking about cars and his career in ironwork, where he took great pride in reminiscing about the work he did. He would talk about walking a high beam and situations that would make others' knees tremble, but he did it without reservation. He enjoyed watching Westerns and was always ready to share his wisdom, offering advice and comfort in any life situation.
We are deeply grateful for the love, lessons, and steady presence he gave us. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be a treasure we carry always in our hearts.
