Omoye Enisegho Imoisili, age 38, passed away on November 17th, 2025 after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at the time of her passing.

Those who know Omoye (or Oye, as she was known to friends and family), know that she was someone special. She dedicated her life to helping others, and achieved countless accomplishments while remaining humble and grounded.

Oye was born in Richmond, Virginia, as the first child to Menfo and Bim Imoisili, who survive her. As a child, she moved with her family to San Diego, and shortly thereafter, to Maryland, where she called home.

Oye was always a loving person, and a brilliant student - even skipping a grade early on due to her maturity, and clear academic excellence. She was a lover of music, and learned to play the piano and the violin. At the same time, in a very Oye way, she was also a powerhouse athlete, playing soccer, running track and field, and competing in varsity volleyball team at Centennial High School in Ellicott City. She continued to play in her (limited) spare time in college. Oye volunteered and mentored actively throughout her life, helping to guide friends, family, and community members in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

At the age of 16, Oye enrolled at Princeton University, where she earned a BA in Psychology with a certificate in Neuroscience. After graduating in 2008, she pursued a research year at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and later attended the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. While there, she developed a keen interest in population level health. Oye then pursued a Masters in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she focused on Health Systems and Policy and earned additional certificates in Health Education and Health Disparities/ Health Inequality. She subsequently returned to Columbia to complete her MD, and was conferred the Gold Humanism Award for her compassionate, patient-centered approach to the practice of medicine.

Oye continued her training at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, with a focus in Internal Medicine on the Primary Care track. For her consistently demonstrated excellence, she was named Intern of the Year. Though encouraged by her peers to pursue a position as Chief Resident, Oye instead decided to further her training by completing a fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer focused on Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Thereafter, she was employed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and later, returned to the CDC as a Medical Officer, in the division of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention – Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch. Simultaneously, Oye continued to work as a clinician, with credentials at multiple DC area hospitals. In addition to her existing roles, in 2017, Oye enlisted in the United States Public Health Service Corps where she participated in multiple deployments, including the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, running the crisis at its inception. Due to her outstanding work, Oye earned an early promotion, achieving the rank of Commander in 2023, at the young age of 35.

A devoted follower of Christ, baptized in her youth, Oye was active in her many church families, no matter where she found herself - most recently at Union Church.

A world traveler, and a lover of cultural heritage, Oye ventured to 67 countries, and visited all 50 U.S. states (and multiple territories). She learned French, Spanish, and was in the process of improving her Yoruba towards the end of her life.

Oye is survived by her father, Menfo, her mother, Bim, and her three siblings, Mabo, Zoddy, and Sowa.

Oye will be lovingly remembered, and missed forever. She was a cherished gift to the world, and a blessing to everyone that she met. Though her life was cut short, it was full and beautiful.

To honor her, farewell services will be held in Howard County, Maryland on November 30, 2025.
