Mom,

I did not know how hard it was going to be without you. This has been the hardest year that I can remember. I think of you everyday. I have been able to relate to others that have lost a parent recently and feel better that there are others out there that have the same feelings that I have. I wish you were here to see the kids growing up, you would not believe how they have changed. Hollan ask about you often, she too misses you alot and calls the cementary heaven. I miss you and love you alot

Opal - I've been thinking of you a lot, especially with your birthday so near and Christmas as well. I will always remember your cookies but especially that one Christmas party where you wrapped your cookies in a box when we were playing Chinese Christmas. We didn't think you put cookies in there ... when someone opened the box and we saw the cookies...we all started trying to get them. Seems like Candy actually got them. You felt so bad that you baked more cookies and brought us all some the next day. You taught me a lot about "toughing it out" during all the years we worked together (23) and I truly think of you often. You always thought of everyone else before you ever thought of yourself.

Miss Opal was one of the wonderful memories that all children and members of PVCC will cherish. We have missed her so much since her retirement, and the kids still think they should be able to run to her office, visit, and receive candy from her drawer! Our condolences to your entire family, and to let you know she always loved to share with us how much she loved you ALL.

Opal Butler babysat me when I was a little boy and lived next door to her. I remember her smile, her laugh and most of all, her chocolate chip cookies. They were the best. After my family moved from Broadmoor to Pleasant Valley, I would stop by PVCC from time to time to say hello when I was in town visiting my parents who lived down the street.

Ironically, my mother Marilyn Davis, also died last week and it was because I was in town for that, I noticed that Opal had passed away.

My thoughts are with you.

My deepest sympathies to the family. Ms. Opal was truely loving and caring to us all at PV. I will always remember, as a child, sneaking through the club ballroom with dripping wet bathing suits just to be caught and then surprised with treats/candies and a loving smile. Ms. Opal touched the lives of so many. She will always be PV to me. God Bless.

We have known and loved Ms.Opal for over 30 years at PVCC. We know of no one more caring than she. She was swell to our kids when they were growing up even though we had a "special" child.

She was a very good friend and loved each member of her family intensely. I was blessed to have been able to work with her for 26 years. In my memory she will remain the "queen of cookies".
