Mrs. Opal Irene Hamlin Hardy, age 91, of Siloam, NC, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Surry County, November 15, 1933, the daughter of the late James Richard and Gladys Inez Marion Hamlin. Mrs. Hardy began her work career with the Earl Ramey Insurance Company and later with Blue Ridge Burke Insurance Company where she retired. She was a longtime member of Siloam Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Karen Hardy, Rex Hardy, and Gerald and Stephanie Hardy; her grandchildren, Emily Cave (Matthew), Zachary Hardy (Sarah), Tasha Crotts (Jackie), Chase Hardy (Shannon), Emma Grace Hardy, Olivia Claire Hardy; her great grandchildren, Kaitlin Cave, Laney Cave Shore, Mallory Cave, Jack Hardy, Saul Hardy, Kylee Crotts, Carrigan Crotts, Novah Crotts, Jay Crotts, Campbell Hardy, Mason Hardy, Gracelyn Rose Bates; her step great grandchild, Jared Crotts; her brother and sister-in-law, Cleve and Sandra Hamlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Clark Hardy, sister, Callie Hamlin Smith (Bobby), brother, Curt Hamlin (Jeanette); daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith Hardy and step great granddaughter, Cansas Crotts. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, 2:00 PM, at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Jarred Seal and Rev. Stewart Mauck officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Hardy family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Siloam Baptist Church P.O. Box 25, Siloam, NC 27047 or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is entrusted Mrs. Hardy’s funeral arrangements.
