Opal Mae Patterson

1938 - 2024

CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Opal Mae Patterson, 85, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Heritage Hall in Clintwood, Virginia.
She was born in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James and Dinah Roberts Maggard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Homer Patterson; two sons, James Allen and Billy Duane Halcomb; and one granddaughter, Heather Allen.
Opal was of the Baptist faith. Her hobbies included listening to Christian music and watching Living Faith television. She also enjoyed fishing, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was the best mom ever.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy Carol Browning and husband, Wayne of St. Paul, Virginia, Diana Duty and husband, Rusty of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jennifer Deel and husband, Ronnie of Atlanta, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Joseph Halcomb and wife, Renee Lowrimore, Kristy Dawn Perry and husband, Ryan, Cameron Duty, Amy Altizer and husband, Steven, Jessica Penland, Angela Fife and husband, Latham, David Deel, David Allen, Lance Allen, and Brittany Allen; seven great-grandchildren, Caden Altizer, Logan Altizer, Easton Perry, Chandler Perry, Hudson Perry, Emori Fife, and Aubrey Fife; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services for Opal Mae Patterson will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Chapel of Love Mausoleum in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia with Pastor Danny Rhea officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
