Ora Rozar Obituary

Published by W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home on Jun. 19, 2009.
Ora Fay Kline Rozar, 90, passed away on May 29, 2009, at Hospice after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in 1918, in Illinois to renowned writer, publisher and literary agent, Otis Adelbert Kline and his wife Ellen. She leaves her loving daughter, (Lisa) Ann Rossini Cabral, with whom she resided; stepson, William Rozar (wife Kay Kelly); sister-in-law, Laura R. Marrone; several nieces and nephews in the Chicago area as well as many extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Joseph Rozar; her son Michael Rossini; grandson, Gary Cabral; sister, Elinor Reed; and brother, Allen Kline. A U.S. Navy WAVE, Ora served during World War II as an airplane mechanic, an experience she treasured throughout her life. After leaving the WAVEs, she returned to CT; and upon her father's passing, she took over his literary agency. She received a B.F.A. from the former Whitney School of Art in New Haven. She and her late husband moved to Abbeville, SC, in 1967, and she returned home to CT in 2008. She was active in the SC Arts community and served as: member and past president of the Greenwood Artist's Guild, Chairperson of the Steering Committee for the Artist's Division of the Annual Greenwood Festival of Flowers, member of the Greenwood Writer's Guild, and the American Watercolor Society. She had an art studio and taught many youngsters and adults over the years. She was an active participant in many programs at Lander University and won many awards for her artwork in the Greenwood area. Ora loved to travel and had a thirst for learning about other cultures, which she passed on to her daughter. She and Lisa spent many happy days exploring Europe, Scandinavia, central Mexico, the Yucatan, Caribbean and Asia. She was an avid animal lover and over the years, adopted many wonderful cats and dogs from local shelters, always trying to persuade others to rescue rather than purchase. A wake will be held on Thursday, June 4, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford. Any donations in her memory may be sent to her daughter, who will divide them among her favorite charities. On-line condolences can be sent to www.wsclancy.com. A celebration of life for both her and her late husband will be held at a future time.
