Oralia G. Fernandez, 90, of San Angelo passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Public viewing will be from 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fernandez was born on December 10, 1934 in San Angelo to Enrique and Brunilda Rodriguez Garza. She finished her schooling in Metairie, Louisiana and resided there for most of her adult life. She married her first husband, Andres D. Cortez and he passed away in 2000. Later she married Sammy Fernandez on April 6, 2004 in Las Vegas. He passed away on April 11, 2016. Oralia was a homemaker to her six children. She enjoyed to sewing, crocheting, do puzzles, play Mahjong tiles and going to the casinos with Sam. She loved watching Judge Judy, dance and loved her Chihuahua dog, Rocky. Oralia was kind-hearted, strong-willed and a little spicy.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa Linda Cortez; three sisters, Yolanda Gatzka, Rachel Zapata, and Amelia Garza; and two brothers, Enrique Garza I and Enrique "Jr" Garza II.
Oralia is survived byr five children, Elsa Waltman and husband Bill of Colorado, Debora Tullgren of Nevada, Oralia "Lala" Cortez of Chalmette, Louisiana, Andrea "Deedee" Uyemura and husband Mark of California, and Andres "Andy" Cortez, Jr. of San Angelo; four sisters, Mary Fernandez of San Angelo, Adelita Morales and husband Joe of Abilene, Brune Torres and husband Richard of Midland, and Leticia Sanchez of San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Brandy, Garrett, Gareth, Mason, Kate, Lynda, and Ashley; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
