Sister OSF Donna Anthony

Sister Donna Anthony, OSF (formerly Sister Anthony Marie) age 91, passed away at the Stella Niagara Health Center on March 19, 2026. Born Donna Marie Louise Anthony in Buffalo, NY on March 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Anthony F. and Louise Jean (Corey) Anthony.

Sister entered the Sisters of St. Francis September 3, 1961 and was Professed August 18, 1964. She received her BS in Education from Rosary Hill (Daemen University) College, Buffalo, NY in 1971.

Sister Donna taught in New York at St. Benedict School, Buffalo (1965-1966); St. Peter School, Lewiston (1967); Stella Niagara Cadet School, Stella Niagara (1969-1970); St. Lawrence School, Buffalo (1976-1978); St. Ann School, Buffalo (1978-1988) and did other Parish work there (1988-1991); Buffalo Public School #99 (1991-2013); and in Ohio at St. Aloysius Academy, New Lexington (1967-1969); and Pope John XXIII School, Columbus (1970-1976).

After retiring in 2013 , Sister Donna resided in the Buffalo, New York area, and continued her outreach telephone/prayer ministry, especially with friends from the St. Ann Parish community as well as colleagues from the Buffalo Public Schools. She also enjoyed gardening and frequent use of her Ipad. Due to health issues, Sister Donna joined the Health Center Community at Stella Niagara in January 2026.

She is survived by her sister Gloria J. Paz, brothers Ronald J. Anthony and John J. (late Katherine) Anthony; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, as well as the Sisters of St. Francis. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Anne A. Anthony,
Sister Rosemary Anthony, OSF and Dolores M. Anthony.

Sister will be waked Friday, March 27th from 3-7 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7PM in the Sister's Chapel at Stella Niagara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 28th at 10AM. Burial in the Stella Niagara Cemetery.
