Othello Gibson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Champions on Nov. 14, 2025.
Othello C. Gibson, age 30, of Houston, passed away November 12, 2025. He was born on December 17, 1994 to James Lamie Gibson and Mabel Jothe Nebo-Gibson. He is survived by his mother Mabel Jothe Nebo-Gibson; Duane Gibson, Ashley Gibson, Zion Gibson, Treeo Gibson, Massa Gibson, William Gibson, Hannah Gibson, Horace Gibson, Williette Paasewe-Neufville, Lucy Wreh, Comfort Maima Nebo-Osadiaye, Ophelia Onobrakpeya, Willie Howard, Leona Gibson, Albertha Gibson, Cecelia Gibson, Papi Gibson, Ben Carroll, Kiki Carroll, Jeff Carroll, Annie (Carroll) Potente, Joe Potente, Genevieve Potente, Theo Potente, William Carroll, and Molly (Dahm) Carroll, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other family.

He is preceded in death by his father James Lamie Gibson and grandparents Willie B P and Nyonkonkplayah Lucy Greah-Nebo, James and Hawa Gibson, Bill and Jean McCall, and Martha Carroll.

Othello, being a man of family, was included as such from the Klein and Johnstone Supply communities to friends and many others who counted him as their own. Though his life was short, it was filled with love and joy beyond measure.

Othello graduated from Klein High School in 2013 where, true to the Gibson legacy, he set many records and is still remembered by the Klein Bearkat Football program. He made many of his lasting friendships in the halls and on the fields of Klein High School. After graduating from Klein, he joined the football team at Blinn College. He was a gifted athlete and still enjoyed playing recreational football with his brothers and friends. He had a competitive spirit and loved challenging his competitors to be the best they could be. Othello enjoyed all sports but was an avid soccer fan. While he collected jerseys from every team, his favorite remained Real Madrid.

He spent most of his adult life working at Johnstone Supply of Houston where he held many positions and had an accomplished career. He made a lasting impact on customers, vendors and coworkers through his hard work, discipline, professionalism, positive attitude and kindness. Many of his coworkers were his close friends and he brightened everyone's day with his presence and love.

Othello will be remembered by everyone he met for his infectious smile, love of life, and generosity. He lived out his faith daily, living as Jesus asked us to live- loving others and showing compassion and mercy to all. He never met a stranger and his willingness to help others knew no bounds, no matter if he had known a person for one minute or his entire life. He was the life of the party, always dancing, singing and making others laugh. Animals also held a special place in his heart, none more so than his two cats Penny and Dijonay. Othello was a beautiful and gracious soul who impacted countless people, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration for all to live and love as he did.
