Otis Smith Obituary
Otis Smith, 83, of Brunswick, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Jesup Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Jesup.
A Celebration of Otis's life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026, at his residence, 205 Pershing Circle, in Brunswick.
Otis was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Douglas, to Simon and Lillian Rhymes Smith. He had lived all of his life in Brunswick, and was a United States Army veteran, serving during Vietnam, followed by four years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was retired from Glynn County Public Works, and enjoyed saltwater fishing for trout and sitting on his back porch.
Otis is survived by his daughter, Shelly Smith (Brent Brown); grandchildren, Timothy Powell, Tara Collins, Emily Collins, Lucas McCoy and Brinson Brown; great-grandchildren, Brad Powell Jr., Skyla Powell, Rain Powell and Starla Powell; sisters, Brenda Capps and Linda Altman; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Tammy Smith Powell and Debbie Smith Collins; a grandson, Brad Powell; and brothers, Julius Smith and Donald Smith.
Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

We are absolutely heartbroken to hear about your dad, Mr Otis. I´ll never forget how he always shared with us when we was having a fish fry. (You know Granddaddy loved that).
