Ovie Jenkins Obituary
Ovie Sue Jenkins, age 92, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Tallahatchie General Hospital-Extended Care Facility in Charleston, MS surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Ovie was born on June 9, 1932 to the late Freddie C. Underwood and Ethel Marie Underwood in Fulton, MS. In her lifetime, Ovie found joy in the simple pleasures of being surrounded by her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long-time, faithful member of the Locke Station Baptist Church. Ovie also had a passion for reading.
The family she leaves behind includes her two sons, James Jenkins (Tawana) of Batesville, MS, and Johnny Jenkins (Rhonda) of Walker, LA; three grandchildren, Heather Jenkins Scott (Bobby), Steven Jenkins, and Corey Jenkins; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Jenkins; one son, Jackie Jenkins; and 14 siblings.
