Owen Paul Conway

Dr. Owen Paul Conway, beloved father, grandfather, and scholar, passed away on November 28, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on August 1, 1945, in Manchester, NH, to Joseph and Patricia (Piekos) Conway, he was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Francis.

He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1963. Owen earned his undergraduate degree from Saint Anselm College, where he formed a lifelong friendship with Robert Lenehan. In 1968, Owen married Janet Quiet, with whom he built a loving family. Though their lives later took separate paths, they remained close friends throughout the years. He is survived by their three children—Jeffrey, Jennifer, and John and seven grandchildren.

A dedicated academic, Owen earned a Master’s in Political Science from Fordham University and a PhD in Educational Administration from Boston College. Raised in the Catholic faith, he maintained a lifelong connection to his Polish heritage. His commitment to education and values led him to Benedictine and Jesuit institutions, where he continued to grow intellectually and spiritually.

Owen devoted his career to shaping young minds, beginning as a social studies teacher and later serving as Principal of Southside Junior High in Manchester, NH. He went on to become Assistant Superintendent in Manchester, Director of Personnel in Salem and Londonderry, and Superintendent of Schools in Goffstown and in Barnstead–Pittsfield. After retiring, he continued teaching at Emmanuel College and worked with the Massachusetts Department of Education.

In 2007, Owen fulfilled his dream of living near the ocean when he moved to Kennebunk, ME. He served as President of the Kennebunkport Rotary Club and indulged his love of fine dining, good wine, and the Boston Symphony. He cherished his travels—to Ireland, Germany, Italy, Austria, France, the Czech Republic, London, and Maui—creating lasting memories with his daughter Jennifer. A special trip to Russia with his son Jeff was among his most treasured adventures.

Known for his dry wit, sharp intellect, and meticulous nature, Owen took great pride in always looking his best—never without a suit and a clean shave. His humor was subtle but unforgettable. He liked to say that his obituary should note he “never did make it to Wisconsin.”

Owen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep devotion to education. While no services will be held, his family takes comfort in knowing he lived a life rich with purpose, joy, and accomplishment. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
